Pan and Zoom

Your Custom Image Map:

The area that was selected is returned as a jpeg image. This area can be saved with most browsers by holding down the (right) mouse button with the cursor on the image and selecting the menu item that saves it to disk.

Pan and Zoom Buttons:

You can use the pan and zoom buttons below your image to modify it. Clicking on any of the pan buttons will move in the direction of the arrow on that button. For example, if you click on the right arrow, the current image's center will become the left edge of your new image.

If you select the zoom in () or out () buttons the image will be re-created at the same size, but now at a higher or lower zoom. A high zoom reveals fine details of a selected area but the actual physical area represented will be less while a low zoom shows a greater area but less detail. For example, if you have an image at 64 pixels per degree and you click on the zoom in button, the new image will be at 128 pixels per degree. The image at 64 pixels per degree might have a crater that takes up most of the image, while the 128 pixels per degree image might only show a quarter of the crater. These buttons are especially useful if you are looking for a specific feature. It's usually best to start at a lower resolution, pan around until you find the feature, then zoom in.
